Ahhhhhh...

Just got back from a Girls Weekend Away... no kids, no husbands, no time schedules, no errands, no responsibilities, no driving to and from, no worries. Just good friends, laughter, music, conversation, food and drinks! Everyone need that once in a while.

Delayed Satisfaction
I got my new laptop the other day and I am not enjoying it yet. I know once I get the kinks worked out I will love it, but here are some of my frustrations:
- Why can't you take a computer out of the box, turn it on, press a button that says "find my shit" and start working?
- I wanted a numeric keyboard built in because I do a lot of work with numbers, but getting used to the layout is hard. The enter key on the right is smaller so I keep pressing the number 4 by accident.
- I TRIED so hard not to load AOL. Couldn't do it. I am standing up and saying "I am an AOL addict". I have heard from so many people that it puts all sorts of files and crap on your computer... but I am so used to it and it is very user friendly. Plus you can IM, switch between screen names, see my buddy list... whatever. I tried the Google desktop for about 6 hours and got frustrated.
- This laptop has a fingerprint reader which I thought was going to be cool. Doesn't work with AOL. Yea, I know.
- VISTA... not sold yet. I have to upgrade a few programs or download patches which is prolonging the satisfaction of getting something new.
- I am out of loads on my MS Office so I had to buy a new program. There is more money I wasn't planning on spending.
- The wireless network is working but I am afraid to take the laptop out of my office for fear I will take it to my room and never have a reason to come out.
- I haven't paid my credit card bill yet.
It'll be all good.

Signs of Spring

Basketball games, puddles from melting snow, the sound of kids playing, drivers with the windows open, hints of muddy grass, dirty boys smell, runners, mom's walking with strollers, sunshine, cars parked on the street, garage doors open, hockey nets...

What do you see outside?

Everyone is talking about it...
Thursday Thirteen
Thirteen things I have found, lost or are searching for:

1. I have found my blog. I will try not to misplace it again as I have been yelled at by one of my three loyal readers. You know who you are... Hi!
2. Look Ma, New Hands by Bath & Body Works is the best hand lotion. It is one of their True Blue Spa products which also has a great foot cream.
3. I have lost a part of my car bumper... well, maybe not lost but rather it got taken away. Someone backed into me in a parking lot last night. Totally not my fault because I was not moving at the time... although the other driver did not think it was her fault either. A hint, when you have just backed into someone DO NOT tell the cop, especially in front of the driver you hit, that the other dent in your car is because you backed into a garbage can. Seems to me you need some lessons in backing up. Or one of those beepers that tell you when you are getting close to something.
4. I have lost my sex drive. My husband hopes I find it soon. TMI?
5. I have been on the hunt for a new laptop. I would like one with a numeric keypad built in and do not like the HP one because the screen is very shinny. Any ideas?
6. Something hopefully my son has found: a job! He is going to pick up an application today and talk to the woman who is hiring. My neighbor recommended him... keep your fingers crossed!
7. I have re-found my workout clothes. I set a goal to run/walk 10 miles a week on the treadmill and have kept it up for 2 months. I now have to step it up a bit by running a little more... I am up to about half.
8. Due to #7, I have found Move Free.
9. I am looking for(ward) to the new BonJovi album. Can you tell I am running out of things to write.
10. I have found this author. So far I have read Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral, currently reading The Elegant Gathering of White Snows and our book club just picked The Sunday List of Dreams. I am really not a big reader but when I find an author I like, I get them all. My last binge was on Elizabeth Berg.
11. Someone told me about this blog which I am now hooked on. Hearing the perspective of an OB is fascinating to me. I love birth stories but they are usually written by the mom who usually does not remember 1/2 of what went on... which is not necessarily a bad thing.
12. OH OH... I can't believe I almost forgot about these! A friend and I were at lunch and a kid walked in with these shoes that made a squeak with each step. Being it was not my kid I thought they were the cutest thing. I asked her where she got them and she said to search online for "squeaky shoes". When I found them, I immediately ordered them for my niece. She was not walking yet and I, being the good aunt, thought they would help encourage her. OK, I wanted to get my sister back for all the paint, play-dough and noise makers she has gotten for my kids. My niece is now walking... thanks to the shoes, of course! She grew out of them so I ordered another pair in a bigger size! Hee hee. Who could resist...
13. Has anyone had the Green Bean Fries at TGI Fridays... yummmy!
13 and 1/2. I just clicked the spell checker... the new Blogger is pretty cool! Yes, it's been that long!
